EMDR
What is EMDR?
Sometimes we need to do more than just talk about it. We need to cut through the chatter to discover what is happening in our bodies, and heal it. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's a therapeutic approach designed to help people process traumatic memories and other distressing life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR actively engages both the mind and body in the healing process. During a session, clients work with a trained EMDR therapist to safely revisit painful memories while using bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements or gentle tapping. This helps the brain reprocess memories and store them in a more adaptive, less distressing way. EMDR is a well-researched, evidence-based therapy that has been shown to be highly effective for trauma and related conditions.
