My Approach
It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge your need to grow and a lot of vulnerability to open up to someone and ask for help. As a therapist I have a lot of gratitude for my clients’ courage. It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients on their journey and I do not take it lightly that people put their trust in me.
My work is very relationally focused. We spend a lot of time exploring the different ways you learned to relate to others throughout your life and how continuing those unhealthy patterns leads to the problems you face today. To do this I also help you develop a greater awareness of the thoughts and feelings that lead to the choices you make. To do this I draw from psychodynamic and attachment theories and often teach mindfulness skills.
Because my work is deeply relational it is also very collaborative. While I do have a strong point of view I know I am not the expert on your experience. The insights I provide are not authoritative but are an offering for us to explore as we make sense of your life. I try to show up in a way that is honest and curious because this is what I ask of my clients.
