My Approach
Hi, I’m Kelly Orozco, and I’m so glad you’re here!
For the past five years, I have worked as a School Counselor in the Portland, Oregon area, supporting adolescents, young adults, and families through some of life’s most challenging and transformative moments. Much of my work has been with BIPOC students and families, and I deeply value creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, respected, and understood. I am passionate about mental health and am excited to continue expanding my work as a therapist. I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can show up as your whole self, without judgment, pressure, or expectations.
I am especially passionate about working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate the many transitions and questions that come with growing, changing, and figuring out who they are.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and person-centered. My role is to walk alongside you as you explore what is happening, better understand yourself, and identify where you would like to go next. I incorporate elements of person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and somatic therapy principles into my work. Depending on your needs and goals, we may explore thought patterns and behaviors, emotional experiences, relationships, coping strategies, body awareness, or the ways that past experiences may continue to affect how you navigate the present.
I don’t believe therapy needs to be one-size-fits-all. We will work together to find an approach that feels meaningful and manageable for you. I want therapy to be a space that feels safe, comforting, genuine, and collaborative. I also believe there is room for humor, curiosity, and fun in therapy. Life can be heavy enough; we don't have to make the therapeutic space feel heavier than it needs to be.
Never hesitate to reach out; I am currently accepting telehealth clients throughout Washington State.
