Ariana Turner | Narrative Therapy & Sex Therapy in Vancouver, WA
PhD, LMHCA
My Approach
My journey toward becoming a therapist began in a retirement home. I was a 16-year-old waitress, but I eagerly waited for dinner to end so I could sit with the residents and hear their stories. That passion has sparked everything since: an MS in clinical psychology and a PhD in personality psychology from Northwestern University, and over a decade spent helping people tell more honest and livable stories about their lives.
I believe that every life is a story in progress – and that when we change the way we tell our story, we change the way we live it. I can help you explore the deeper narratives that shape your sense of self: the ways you explain who you are, where you’ve been, and where you’re going. Together, we will uncover the patterns, beliefs, and turning points that have guided your story so far, and begin to rewrite them in ways that feel more authentic, compassionate, and empowered.
I also integrate narrative approaches into sex therapy. I work with individuals and couples who want to reauthor their existing stories around sexuality and cultivate more fulfillment and embodiment in their sexual lives, whether that means working through shame, desire differences, or the lasting effects of sexual trauma. I offer an open, non-judgmental space for you to share your story in a safe environment.
Beyond sexuality, I work with those who are facing anxiety, depression, PTSD, or the stress of navigating life changes. I also draw on evidence-based tools such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to offer holistic care tailored to your individual needs.
I am currently welcoming new clients for in-person sessions in Vancouver, WA, as well as telehealth clients throughout Washington State. In our work together, you can expect a warm, curious, and collaborative space, grounded in trauma-informed, somatic approaches that help you feel safer in your body. Whether you’re in the middle of a hard chapter or sense it’s time to begin a new one, I’d love to help you write what comes next.
